LEGO® MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures – Legoland Windsor

We love creating social media video for attractions and our latest project allowed us to do exactly that.

Legoland Windsor Resort recently opened a brand new area of the park, Mythica – World of Magical Creatures. With a retheme of existing attractions, 2 brand new rides (including the UK’s first flying theatre!) and a brand new IP to introduce, the new Mythica land is a huge investment for the park. 

 

We were contacted by the marketing team at Legoland to create a hero social media video for Mythica’s opening date, to be released on social media and really show off the new land to upcoming visitors. 

 

The Project Details

The keyword in the brief for this project was ‘Cinematic’ – and with the beautiful design and theming around the land, we had a lot of great subjects to work with. From the rides to the 13 new lego models (658,530 bricks in total!) and all of the details around the land, we set out to capture it all within one video that would make anyone watching want to go and explore Mythica for themselves. 

 

The shoot took place over one full day. We spent time in the morning filming inside of the flying theatre ride – Flight of the Sky Lion – which is the main ride in the area. This presented its own set of challenges like H&S for filming on-ride and setting unmanned cameras in the ride area whilst operational – we were really happy with the footage we captured and it’s not an easy ride to explain so filming it in action was critical to the video. 

 

We had some fabulous families with us on the day to star in the video, the kids especially were great, their excitement was infectious! After filming the indoor sections we had free reign of the area with the families to capture each attraction in action and all the smiles as they happened. 

 

The music used in the video is the official soundtrack for Lego Mythica (by IMA Score) which plays out over the area in the park. That really helps the tone of the video match the atmosphere of the area. 

 

The scale of the area, the models, the rides, have such an epic feeling about them that we wanted to express within the video. The whole backstory of Lego Mythica is that the Lego creatures come to life there so we wanted to really capture that imagination meets real-life feeling. 

 

The Hero video was released on the opening day of the new land, 29th May 2021 and was really well received on social media platforms. Alongside this main video we’ve also created shorter social media videos from the footage that we captured including spotlight videos on each ride, the food offerings and Lego models.
